Infanticide Curtailed
April 19, 2007
After a grim week when young people were being slaughtered by a crazed gunman, it is promising to see a drop of mercy coming from another quarter – however small that amount may be. The Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision this week to uphold the 2003 Partial Birth Abortion Ban says a great deal about what the court’s likely view on legalized infanticide will be in the future.
The ruling is being somewhat blown out of proportion by both sides. I even find myself doing it with the title of this post. By banning partial birth abortions, the court is only disallowing the most gruesome 3,000-5,000 procedures. That out of the 1.3 million each year that we know about. But on the bright side, pro-abortion groups have gained ground continuously for over 30 years, and it’s nice to see at least a decision that acknowledges some progress on this matter.
My question is how this will practically effect the abortion-mill. If Planned Parenthood and the abortion clinics have a smaller window in which to execute a fetus, they will likely apply more pressure to young women into making an even more hasty decision to terminate. They will probably also become more aggressive about getting women into ”counseling” sooner.
Even with the present court, we are still a long way from Truth on this issue…
