Why “A Standard”?

From the first blog…

“Well, I finally and reluctantly have decided to enter the blogisphere. My hesitation is not entirely unfounded, as Proverbs 13:3 says, “He that keepeth his mouth keepth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.” Too many blogs are just forums for people to say idle words that they should have never said and would otherwise not have said if not afforded the opportunity. Every idle word will be brought into judgment, and I believe that includes blog entries.

However, the testimony of Proverbs is that God’s people do in fact speak. “The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out,” Proverbs 10:31. I believe there is a great deal being said on the web lately which is very untrue. If Christ’s people are to be salt and light in the world, it seems we have a lot of work to do on the internet. Believers are Christ’s witnesses, and I would like for this to be a place where the witness for truth is maintained.”
